October 11 is International Day of the Girl. The Day of the Girl is all about raising awareness of issues faced by girls around the world making sure that we receive the same opportunities and support as boys. In 2011, the United Nations voted to pass a resolution adopting October 11, as a special day recognizing the need for the empowerment of and investment in girls.

The United Nations came up with a resolution that supports the empowerment of and investment in girls, which they recognize as critical for economic growth and the achievement of all eight Milennium Development Goals which include:

– The eradication of extreme poverty and hunger
– Universal primary education
– and the participation of girls in decisions that affect them to name a few.

Each goal was given specific targets and dates for achieving those targets, that?s how Girl Bosses get it done.

Each year?s Day of Girls has a theme,

2019?s theme is ?Girlforce: Unscripted and Unstoppable.
